Two of my colleagues worked on a creative idea to develop prologue – group twitter-like service, within a few days.  Technically, it utilizes the underlying WordPress tables and existing logic and adds new presentation (or theme).  The result is a very attractive new service! It is widely reported in the tech media.

This is an indication of the excellent versatility and extensibility of WordPress software. With a little ingenuity, you can manage ANY content using WordPress, and do amazing things with this free open source software.

Internet in China

Some recent stats about Internet usage stats in China published by China Internet Network Information Center, or CNNIC):

  • Total number of Internet users increased to 210 million, 5 million behind that of U.S.
  • In early 2008, China will have the largest number of Internet users in the world.
  • 52 million of users live in rural areas, transforming how farmers and peasants access information.
  • 50.4 million users access Internet using mobile phones.
  • 20,000 .CN domains are registered everyday.
  • Entertainment has become the most important of China’s Internet applications.
  • 181 million people listen to music over the Internet.

No wonder why it would be shortsighted for any major Internet company not to have a China strategy.

Yes, We Can

This speech reminds me of Martin Luther King.  Notice how he fired up the crowd even after losing New Hampshire.

“It was a creed written into the founding documents that declared the destiny of a nation: Yes, we can.

It was whispered by slaves and abolitionists as they blazed a trail towards freedom through the darkest of nights: Yes, we can.”
